2. Description of Service
CiteFinder is an AI-powered academic citation tool that helps users find and format scholarly references. The Service searches academic databases to locate relevant papers and generates properly formatted citations in various styles including APA, MLA, Chicago, and Harvard.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
4. Subscriptions and Payments
CiteFinder offers both free and paid subscription tiers:
- Free tier: Limited searches per month with basic features
- PRO tier: Unlimited searches with all features
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. We process payments securely through Stripe and do not store your payment card information.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe upon the rights of others
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
- Use automated means to access the Service without permission
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers/networks
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
6. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by CiteFinder and protected by intellectual property laws. Citation data is sourced from third-party academic databases (such as OpenAlex) and remains subject to their respective terms. You retain ownership of any content you create using the Service.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that citations will be error-free or that the Service will meet all your requirements. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any citations before use in academic work.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CiteFinder shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
